Cycle Jacques Offenbach and Light Music in Paris

Offenbach colorature

Although the technical vocal feats of the Doll, Olympia, in Les Contes d’Hoffmann or those of Eurydice in Orphée aux Enfers are incredibly well known, few people are aware that many other works by Offenbach contain virtuoso roles which provide a varied overview of the vocal skills of the nineteenth-century ‘coloratura soprano’. Jodie Devos, accompanied by the Ensemble Contraste, tackles these challenges brilliantly, transforming them into spectacular expressions of the Romantic soul.
